Guilford College offers many opportunities for all guitarists ranging from a music major or minor to elective courses. The college offers a strong guitar program within a liberal arts setting, and also benefits greatly from the larger Piedmont guitar community. The Piedmont Classic Guitar Society sponsors many concerts and master classes both on campus and in the surrounding area. Guilford guitarists enjoy numerous solo and ensemble performing opportunities including recitals, master classes, receptions, and coffeehouses. Guilford strives to challenge each student to fully develop his/her potential both as a guitarist and human.

Guilford Guitarists receive internship opportunities ranging from work in local public high schools to recording studios and music stores. Majors are encouraged to tutor private students during their junior and senior years of study as an opportunity to gain teaching experience. Graduates from the guitar program have continued study at prestigious graduate institutions,  as well as working as musicians, recording artists, and professional teachers.
